BMBF

The BuFI report uses data that is predominantly from the BMBF’s data portal. The data sources on which this is based include surveys by the Federal Government, the Federal Statistical Office, the German Central Bank (Deutsche Bundesbank), the Joint Science Conference (GWK), and the donors’ association for the promotion of humanities and sciences in Germany (Stifterverband), as well as studies by the Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation (EFI) and the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW). For international comparisons, it uses data from the European statistical office Eurostat, the European Commission, the OECD and the World Economic Forum, among others. Information on the research and innovation policies of the Länder as well as on R&D organisations and institutions is based on each state’s own respective descriptions.
